WE TEACH -
our Basic Gun Dog program and then expand it in more detail in order to supply the knowledge to make a great Waterfowl Retriever which includes:
- A calm, quiet, steady retriever which is under control at all times
- Long remote "sits" and "down stays"
- Advanced marking concepts and building of memory for double/triple retrieves and off of multiple guns
- Marking off the gun
- Open water retrieves, multiple entry retrieves and retrieves in all different types of cover as well as off of multiple guns
- Simple blind retrieves
- Honoring of other working dogs
- "Shake" on command
- Shooting of live mallards and pheasants over top of your dog not at a remote station such as hunt tests and field trials do
- "Dog hunting blind" conditioning
- Field layout blind hunting scenarios with dog in his own blind
- Shore blind hunting scenarios on rivers, lakes, ponds and marshes
- Tree stand hunting scenarios for flooded timber
- Multiple types, sizes and species of decoys, land and water, also including decoy long lines
- Jump shooting from a canoe including exits and entries of retriever from canoe retrieving waterfowl
- Big water, big boat duck hunting scenarios including ocean retrieves from boat and ledges
- Plenty of retrieves on live crippled birds on land and in the water
- Sneak attack ... teaching dog to crawl along side of hunter
Duration - 3 to 4 months after proper Basic Gun Dog concepts are achieved. The ability of the retriever will determine how quickly they progress. |
